Charlene Nowell Todd went to be with the love of her life James Haskel Todd and fur babies Bebe and Charlie on November 15, 2020, at Jones County Rest Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andy Dale Nowell and Sarah Bankston Nowell, sisters Anna Burns and Nellene Saunders, and brother Dale Nowell.
Left to continue to celebrate her life and legacy is daughter Jamie Strebeck (Kevin), son Jeffrey Todd (Allyson Toney), grandson Jareth Todd (Karli), great grandson Mason James Todd, special children Shannon Herrington and Bo Holifield (Bonnie), sister Murtis Holifield, sister-in-law Gail Nowell, niece Tristie Mitlyng (Dave), nephew Trent Nowell (Emily), a host of nieces and nephews, and her church family.
Momma was loved by so many people. She will be remembered as a volunteer at SCRMC, manager of Lots to Love Shoppe, a great cook, a wonderful friend, and of course, the fair lady who started by selling Corndogs and ended with Lemon Shake-ups and Nutty Bars. She honestly lived her life to spread laughter and love.
Charlene was born in Jones County and spent the majority of her younger years in Myrick where she was an awesome basketball player.
She gave of her service to her country in her early twenties by serving in the Navy. She married James on April 13, 1957.
She loved her church, Glade Baptist, and was an active participant in it from the kitchen committee to the counting room. She received numerous recognitions for her community and volunteer work.
Graveside services will be held at Mill Creek Cemetery on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the graveside. Alex Hodge will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Randy Norwood, Stan Norwood, Norton Holifield, and Jordan Holifield.
