George C.” Goat” Rowell Jr., 75, of Sandersville, Mississippi, died Sunday September 13, 2020, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Friday, November 17, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 18, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel with the burial to follow in Good Water Cemetery in Clarke County. Bro. Josh Hawk and Bro. Jimmy Holder will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Rowell Sr. mother, Ruby Lee Elfring; son, George Kelly Rowell; brother, Ken Rowell.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruby Rowell; daughters, Karman Holifield (Chris), and Kandi Scarbrough (Robby); grandchildren, Ashley Elmer, Kane Rowell (Lindsay), Kristin Holifield, and Seth Scarbrough (Raegan); brother, Danny Rowell (Eva); sisters, Hazel Calbert, and Barbara Thatch (Bobby). A host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kane Rowell, Seth Scarbrough, Chris Holifield, Robby Scarbrough, Jim Thatch, and Stevie Fielder.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to his church.
