Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for J.C. (Jimmy) Boyd, 88, of Collins, who passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his residence.

Reverend Jake Sanford and Reverend Mike Davis officiated at the services. Interment followed in the Collins City Cemetery.

Special music was provided by Mrs. Lisa Kelly, Mrs. Stephanie Ingle, and Mr. Paul Walters. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Shane Scarborough, Jay Brooks; his sons-in-law, Bobby Brooks, Sam Kelly, Paul Walters, John Stovall, and his nephew, Boyd McGraw.

Mr. Boyd was born on July 13, 1930 in Bay Springs, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Boyd worked as a watch repairman and jeweler for Sears & Roebuck in Jackson until he decided to retire and love to Collins to be close to his children. He loved working in his yard and later began his own daylily business.

He loved his country and served it well as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Boyd received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart Metal upon retirement from the service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Boyd and Bertha Harper Thigpen; two brothers, R.J. Thigpen and Jack Boyd; a sister, Francis Gray; and a great great-granddaughter, Justice Graham.

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Louise McClain Boyd of Collins; three daughters, Sherry Sanford of Collins, Debbie Brooks (Bobby) of Seminary, and Connie Stovall (John) of Hurley; two-step daughters, Lisa Kelly (Sam) of Stringer and Shirley Walters (Paul) of Laurel; one sister, Helen Lee of Bay Springs; two brothers, Charles Thigpen of Bay Springs and Robert Thigpen of Pearl; eight grandchildren; eighteen greatgrandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
