Funeral services for Olon Leander Garner, Sr., 85, of Raleigh were held Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh with burial in the North Raleigh Cemetery.
Bro. John Cockrell officiated. Pallbearers were Randy Carroll, Marcus Boyles, Griff Kelly, Bobby Garner, Jr., Drew Garner and Billy Garner. Honorary pallbearers were David Nichols, Bert McDaniel and Billy Tadlock.
Mr. Garner died Friday February 22, 2019, at MS State Veterans Home in Collins. He was born in Magee.
He was preceded in death by his son, Olon Leander Garner, Jr.; father, William Luther Garner; mother, Vergie Craft Garner; brothers, Dr. James Odis Garner and Charles Odell Garner and a niece, Lorraine Garner.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Roberta Garner; sons, Robert Luther Garner, Sr. (Laura) and, Charles Larry Garner (Kelly); 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother in-law, Jimmy Kelly (Charlotte); sisters inlaw, Ann Reed (Roger) and Beth Crumpton; nieces, Priscilla Garner and, Kathy Wells and a nephew, James Larry Garner (Patsy).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Blair Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS.
