Homer Atwood, Jr., 71, while surrounded by his family, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020, at his residence in Oloh. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the Purvis Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with interment in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery to follow.
Homer was of the Baptist faith. He drove trucks for many years prior to starting his floor covering business, which he operated for more than forty years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Atwood; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Atwood; parents, Homer and Margaret Atwood, Sr.; a sister, Martha Atwood Hall; and three brothers, Billy Ray Atwood, Jimmy Atwood, and Kenny Atwood.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Faye Atwood of Oloh; four daughters, Angie (Joe) Sylvest of Petal, Stephanie (Chris) Bryant, Stacy (John) Bennett, Diane McCraw, all of Oloh; four sons, Donald McKenzie, Obey Simmons, Earl Simmons, and Cayden Simmons, all of Oloh; four brothers, Jerry (Kay) Atwood, of Asheboro, NC, Roger Dale Atwood of Oloh, Johnny (Alicia) Atwood of Sumrall, Mike (Tracy) Atwood of Brookhaven; a sister, Esther (William) Clinton of Oloh; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Homer will be 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the Purvis Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.
