Robert Albert Hertenstein, 73, formerly of Petal, passed away at his home in Laurel on October 9, 2020. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Moore Funeral Home in Petal from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. followed by burial in Green’s Creek Baptist Church.
Robert was born in Hattiesburg on December 25, 1946, to Richard Hertenstein and Hertha Bernice Pearce. He married Sandra Hertenstein on August 6, 1967, and together they have two children, Greg Hertenstein and Robert Allen Hertenstein.
Mr. Hertenstein was a member of Green’s Creek Baptist Church but attended Florence Methodist Church. He was an Assistant Manager of Corner Market for 35 years. Mr. Hertenstein loved to camp, go to the mountains, and watch football. His favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins and Mississippi State.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hertenstein; his mother and step-father, Hertha and Alford Pearce; a sister, Diane Hertenstein Anderson; a granddaughter, Jessica Hertenstein; and two great-grandsons, Dakota and Jackson Hertenstein.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Hertenstein of Laurel; his two sons, Greg Hertenstein (Tammy) of Laurel and Robert Allen Hertenstein (Mary) of Petal; his three siblings, Richard Hertenstein (Mary Sue) of Oak Grove, Marilyn Rushing (Gary) of Petal, and Dale Pearce (Lisa) of Petal; his 10 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
