Charles D. Hinton, 84, of Laurel, Mississippi, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday September 5, 2020, at his residence in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Thursday, July 9, 1936, in Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church where he was a charter member since 1960, with burial to follow in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bro. Chad Cummins and Brandon Wilson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
Charles served in the Marine Corp for three years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Louise Hinton; infant son, Scott Hinton; brothers, Jimmy Hinton, and D.C. Hinton; sisters, Dot Cormier (Russell) and, Jean Yarbrough.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Bettye L. Hinton; son, Greg Hinton (Kristi); daughter, Holli Hinton (Chris); grandchildren, Ashton McDonnieal (Wesley), Alex Hinton, and Mark Hinton; great -grandchild, Parker McDonnieal; sister in-law, Bettie Sue Hinton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charles worked for the same man, Victor Jones, Sr., for almost 54 years. He was a wonderful husband, daddy, and Papaw. He loved his family deeply, and his life was filled with camping, skiing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. His love for the outdoors was known by all.
He had a wonderful hospice nurse and niece, Nicole Melton, of Laurel. She took care of us and loved us through until the end.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Youngblood, Keith Youngblood, Eric Hinton, Chris Hinton, Brian Roney, Aaron Cormier, Neil Stricklin, and Earl Yarbrough.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Corimer, Kenny Dinero, Ronnie Hinton, Pete Parish, Bill Hosey, Victor Jones, Sr., Ernie Lott, and George Nahas.
