Mr. Alvin Winfred Gatlin, 64, of Laurel, Mississippi died Thursday May 14, 2020, in Saraland, Alabama. He was born Friday, November 4, 1955, in Laurel, Mississippi to Winfred George and Mary Josephine Gatlin.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Hebron Cemetery with burial to follow in Hebron Cemetery. Bro. David Ruffin will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Alvin was an avid hunter and gun collector. He loved being outdoors and enjoying nature. Alvin was a man of God and was passionate about sharing the gospel with anyone he met. Alvin loved his family and friends; he cherished his two daughters and six grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred George and Mary Josephine Gatlin; nephew, Robert Alan Ray.

Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Hill (Corey), and Stefanie Merryman (Phillip); grandchildren, Jackson Holifield, Jenna Holifield, Jacey Holifield, Hannah Klaire Merryman, Hutson Merryman, and Holden Merryman; sister, Myrtis Ray (Bobby); brothers, George "Pete" Gatlin (Gloria), and Wayne Gatlin (Rebecca), and a host of Special nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Ray, Brandon Ray, Bryce Ray, Thomas Pitts, Steven Odom, and Jackson Holifield.
