Agnes Delaney Cornett, 72, of Petal, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019, peacefully at her home after fighting a long illness. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Petal with services immediately following at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Cornett was born and raised in the Eatonville Community. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a Clerk at F-S Prestress for 25 years before retiring in 2002. Many of her hobbies included babysitting, watching baseball, reading, listening to music, watching old movies, crossword puzzles, and word finding games. She was also very proud to tell people that she never missed a day of school, from 1st grade through the 12th grade.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Evie Delaney; her husband, Bill Cornett; two sisters, Nancy Delaney Hamilton and Elaine Delaney Riggs; one brother, Freddy Delaney; and her father and mother-in-law, J.C. and Janie Cornett.
She is survived by one son, Daniel Cornett; two brothers, Tony Delaney and Benny Delaney; one sister, Margie Delaney Carney; and many nieces and nephews.
