A.T. "Buddy" Holifield, Jr., 91, of Ellisville, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at his residence in Ellisville Mississippi. He was born Monday, April 23, 1928 in Lucedale, Mississippi.
Family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, March 6, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Mississippi. The Funeral service will be Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Memory Chapel and the burial will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery located at 1206 Wansley Road, Laurel, MS. Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of the arrangements.
Buddy served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Norfolk Southern RailRoad. He was an avid golfer, a long time member of Dixie Golf, and enjoyed coaching youth baseball. He was a member of West Laurel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by Andrew Tim Holifield Sr. (Father), Maudie Parker Holifield (Mother), Pearl T. Holifield (Stepmother), Jewel Windham (Sister), Hilman Holifield (Brother), Otis Waites (Stepbrother), Leland Waites (Stepbrother), Rev. Arnold Knight (Brother-in-Law), and W.T. Windham (Brother-in-Law).
Survivors include Sarah T. Holifield (Wife of 65 years), Sharon H. Shoemake (Daughter), Thomas F. Holifield (Len) (Son), Timothy Shoemake (Allison) (Grandson), Melanie Eason (Matthew) (Granddaughter), Easton Shoemake (Great Grandson), Lily Jackson (Great Granddaughter), Hazel Knight (Sister), Myrtle Lee Dykes (Sister), Harold Holifield (Vickie) (Brother), Loyd Waites (Step-brother), sister-in-law, Ann Holifield, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
