Adolph “A.J.” Alexander, 96, of Wiggins, passed away on October 30, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Stone County.
Mr. Alexander was born December 1, 1923, in Houston, MS. He entered the Navy in February of 1943 and served until February of 1946. He served two years in the Pacific War, he was discharged as an Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class. He went on to start his banking career in 1946. He also joined inactive Army Reserve and was called to active duty in 1950 and was discharged in 1951 as Sergeant 1st Class. Mr. Alexander had a long career in the Banking Industry. While working for Merchants & Farmers Bank in Macon he met and married Inez Jackson. He worked as Mississippi Bank Examiner for three years. He and his wife moved to Wiggins in 1954 and he worked as the Vice President and Cashier at the Bank of Wiggins. He spent the rest of his banking career in South MS. He retired as President of First National Bank of Wiggins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Alexander; his parents, Charles and Agnes Alexander; his brother, Charles Alexander; and his sister, Virginia Alexander.
He is survived by four children, Terry (Helen) Alexander of New Augusta, Betty Virginia Landers of Katy, TX, Julie (Danny) Montgomery of Hattiesburg, and Dolph (Sharon) Alexander of Wiggins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
