Catherine Lavera Robinson Strickland was born on December 26, 1931, in Jones County. She passed from this life to her heavenly home, December 26, 2020, at 89 years of age. She died unexpectedly at Forrest General Hospital.
She graduated from Shady Grove High School. She retired from Ellisville State School as a group home care provider. She was also a charter member of Park Haven Baptist Church where she joyfully served for over 40 years as the Recording Secretary. Among different mission roles, her love for Jesus was not hidden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Strickland; her parents, Wallace and Sadie Mae Robinson; brothers, Bill “Blackie” Robinson, James Earl Robinson, Alton “Tully” Robinson, Robert “Butch” Robinson; and sister, Betty Jean Lyon.
She is survived by one sister, Norma Kay Sykes. Children: Dale (Betty) Strickland, Vicky (Thomas) Cheeks, Brian (Margie) Strickland and Robin (Anthony) Moffett.
She was also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The service will be Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Park Haven Baptist Church, Hwy. 15 N, Laurel. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. with the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Henry Freeman and Rev. Thomas Cheeks. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens on Wansley Road, Laurel.
Pallbearers: Chris Bumpus, Jonothon Davis, Kyle Moffett, Jessie Reynolds, Jacob Strickland, and Joseph Strickland. Honorary pallbearer, Jimmy Downs.
