Funeral services for Dorothy Leigh Johnson, 81, were held Monday, April 8, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh with burial in Johnson Cemetery in Raleigh. Bro. Rusty Stockman and Bro. Herb Nettleton officiated.
Pallbearers were Rickey Johnson, Wayne Ogletree, Joey Kennedy, Karl Parker, Kevin Johnson and John Douglas Dixon. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Parker and Patrick Parker.
Mrs. Johnson died April 5, 2019, at her home. Born in Danville, VA, she later moved to Raleigh and was married. She was known as a motherly figure to many, in which she was known as “Mama Dot”. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening, especially flowers. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in which she loved dearly. She will truly be missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “J.T.” Johnson; daughter, Tammie Renee Ogletree and her parents, Clarence and Mable Lyle.
Survivors include her children, Regina Dollar (Jackie), Tim Johnson, Rickey Johnson, Lisa Johnson Moore and Irene Rayner (Allen); stepchildren, Gale Tolbert (Billy), Roger Johnson, and Marilyn Johnson; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; brother-in-law, Paul Johnson; sister-in-law, Clara Johnson, a host of nieces and nephews and her dog Charlie.
