Itaska Goar Broom, 77, of Petal passed away on March 30, 2020, at Bedford Care. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Moore Funeral Home in Petal from 5:00 p.m.. until 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. at Lott Cemetery in Sumrall, with a thirty-minute visitation prior to service.
Mrs. Broom was a member of Leeville Baptist Church. She loved to garden and do yard work. She was a dedicated and loved employee of Moore Funeral Home for 27 years, where she was the primary hairdresser, a pre-need specialist, and hostess for both Hattiesburg and Petal.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Hester Goar; her husband, Robert E. Broom, Sr; her son, Robert E. “Rob” Broom, Jr; and three brothers, Verdell Goar, Kermit Goar, and Luke Goar.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Hannah Broom of Vicksburg, her sister, Ouida (Larry) Bracey of Kokomo; her brother, Marlin (Debbie) Goar of Petal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the current state and local mandates regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic, persons wishing to come to the visitation on Wednesday, will be allowed to enter in limited number of groups.
