Mississippi Highway Patrol identified the three victims who were in a 2003 Ford F-150. The vehicle was driven by 38-year-old Christopher Dykes from Ellisville.

According to reports, he was traveling east on MS Highway 588 when it collided with a 2007 Freightliner driven by a 61-year-old resident of Soso who was traveling west on MS Highway 588.

Dykes was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

Two passengers of the F-150 also received fatal injuries. Tristan Dykes, 18-years-old from Sandersville and Caden McCardle, 20-years-old, from Ellisville.

Andrew Harvey, 20-years-old, from Laurel was another passenger in the truck and he was airlifted form the scene.

"The two occupants of the large service truck declined transport to the hospital for medical treatment," said Dana Bumgardner with the Jones County Fire Council.

"South Jones, Southwest Jones, Boggy and Ellisville Fire Department responded to the incident. The Jones County Coroner's office, Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Jones County Sheriff's Department were also on the scene, along with EMServ Ambulance Service. The sole survivor from the F150 was airlifted to the emergency department by Rescue 7," added Bumgardner.

Traffic was severely affected in the area for approximately four hours as Highway 588 remained closed due to the extended amount of time involved in clearing the scene and with the investigation.
