UPDATED (and corrected): The two (white) men found dead early Monday morning in the 4000 block of US Hwy 11 have been identified as James Cameron Runnels, 19, of Hattiesburg and vehicle owner Dustyn Lane Hatten, 22, of Purvis.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict, after being found in a vehicle in a truckstop parking lot. Law enforcement officials responded to the scene at about 4 a.m. Monday.

Hattiesburg Police officials hope toxicology reports and autopsy results from the State Crime Lab will show how the men died.

There appeared to be no signs of trauma or injuries to the two people, and Benedict said the damage to the vehicle was not a result of what may have caused the men’s deaths.

Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Ryan Moore said the investigation is continuing.
