July 10 update:
On July 9 at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to a reported kidnapping in the 500 block of South 14th Ave. It was reported that the suspect, identified as Dominique Evans, age 43, had kidnapped a one-year old child and fled in a small green car of unknown make bearing Ohio plates. By approximately 4:35 p.m. of the same afternoon, Evans returned the child to the residence and fled.
Evans was stopped and arrested moments later on Ferrell Street by a LPD investigator. The child was unharmed during the incident. Evans faces one count of kidnapping. Evans bond was set at $5,000 in Laurel Municipal Court this morning, July 10, according to information released by LPD Chief Tommy Cox.

The Laurel Police Department was called to the scene of a kidnapping earlier today. According to officials, a one-year old black male child was allegedly taken in the 500 block of south 14th Avenue in Laurel around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, July 9. The child was later returned, and a suspect is in custody.
The suspect is identified as Dominique Evans, age 43, who was traveling in a small green car bearing Ohio plates. More information will be published as it is released.
