UPDATE (September 9, 2019):

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Friday night, September 6 shooting in Laurel that left one dead. According to Laurel Police Department Chief Tommy Cox, Jeremy Bowling (35 years of age) has been arrested and charged with one count of accessory before the fact of murder. Jonathan Jones (28 years of age) faces one count of murder. Both will have their initial appearance in Laurel municipal court today.

Initial September 6 Report

The Laurel Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Friday night. The incident left one man dead.

The shooting happened on September 6 just after 8:00 p.m., according to information given out by LPD Chief Tommy Cox.  Officers were dispatched when a call came in that shots were fired in the area of Julian St. and South 15th Ave.

Upon arrival, the officers located a single male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact LPD at 601-399-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP.
