The Jones County Sheriff’s Office and the Laurel Police Department teamed up to make a drug arrest in Laurel last night.
According to Sgt. Jake Driskell of the JCSO, Desmond Hicks was apprehended for the alleged sale of meth. The suspect, who was out on felony bond for a burglary charge from December 2019, is from the Hebron area but was picked up by officers at the Twin Line trailer park in Laurel. He was at Lot F, where he was staying with his girlfriend.
Hicks had a hearing this afternoon, Feb. 14 at 1:00 in court and had his bond revoked.
JCSO narcotic agents along with LPD Narcotics Officer Rodrigus Carr executed an arrest warrant on Hicks. Approximately two grams of the illegal drug was reportedly involved in the sale. Some scales and bags were also confiscated.
The sale took place within 1500 feet of a church.
