Things will look different for many teams in the Buckley Newspapers coverage area soon as the MHSAA announced their Reclassification Enrollment Numbers Thursday.

It was announced earlier this year that the MHSAA would be adding a Class 7A, which would then in turn spread teams out across 1A through 7A classifications. Since then, enrollment numbers have been taken and things have shaken out with several teams changing classifications and regions.

Football changes from each county in the Buckley Newspapers coverage area:

In Smith County, Taylorsville football moves from Region 4-1A to Region 7-1A next season. Mize will stay in Region 8-2A for football. Raleigh takes a move down, as they go from 3A to 2A in Region 6.

In Jasper County, Stringer moves from region 8-2A to Region 7-1A, dropping down a classification. Bay Springs moves up in classification, going from Region 4-1A to Region 5-2A. Heidelberg will stay put in Region 8-2A.

Jones County saw a shakeup, with West Jones moving from Region 3-5A to Region 3-6A. South Jones gets to stay put in Region 3-5A. Laurel moves from Region 3-5A to Region 4-5A. Northeast Jones will stay in Region 5-4A.

Basketball changes from each county in the Buckley Newspapers coverage area:

Stringer and Taylorsville will both be in Region 7-1. Mize and Heidelberg will be in Region 8-2A. Raleigh will be placed in Region 6-2A. Bay Springs moves to Region 5-2A. Northeast Jones will represent Jones County in Region 5-4A, while Laurel heads to Region 4-5A, South Jones resides in region 3-5A, and West Jones moves up to Region 3-6A.

Baseball, fast-pitch softball, and volleyball changes from each county in the Buckley Newspapers coverage area:

Stringer and Taylorsville move to Region 7-1. Mize and Heidelberg stay in Region 8-2A. Raleigh will be placed in Region 6-2A. Bay Springs moves to Region 5-2A. Northeast Jones resides in Region 5-4A, while Laurel heads to Region 4-5A, South Jones resides in region 3-5A, and West Jones moves up to Region 3-6A.
