All students enrolled in the Covington County School District will receive free healthy breakfasts and lunches during each 2020-21 school day.

Superintendent Babette Duty told parents and guardians Thursday that a new plan – Community Eligibility Provision – will allow all students to receive free school meals.

“A new option is available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs,” she said in a notice to parents. “All enrolled students in our district are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2020-2021 school year. No further action is required of you. Your children will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.”
