The Jones County Sheriff’s Department arrested and charged a pair for felony charges of conspiracy to commit a crime in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Bridgette Jefcoat and Andrew Pruitt were stopped by officers shortly after midnight Thursday and were charged when they allegedly crossed state lines to purchase heroin and sell it in Jones County per investigating officer Jake Driscoll.

Both have been charged with drug-related crimes previously, as Pruitt had been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

“It is still an ongoing investigation,” explained Driscoll. “Both are out on felony bond for previous sales of a controlled substance.”

Driscoll went on to say that the pair had been conspiring together to go to neighboring Louisiana to make the purchase of heroin.

“We’ve been tracking them pretty constantly. They were working together to purchase heroin in New Orleans, Louisiana to bring it back here and sell,” explained Driscoll.

Both Jefcoat and Pruitt will have their bonds set Friday.
