The F-150 sustained moderate damage, while the Kia Soul sustained major damage.

A weekend incident involving two minors and two other victims slowed traffic on Highway 590 Saturday afternoon according to Jones County Fire Council’s Dana Bumgardner.

According to the report, a wreck on HWY 590 Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:15 p.m. yielded the response of several Jones County Volunteer Fire Departments.

The incident on HWY 590 and Crosby Road happened when a driver in a Kia Soul attempted to pass a Ford F-150 who was reportedly turning left off of HWY 590.

The single occupant in the F-150 and the three occupants of the Kia - two of whom were minors - luckily only sustained minor injuries.

The F-150 sustained moderate damage, while the Kia Soul sustained major damage.

Southwest Jones and South Jones Volunteer Fire Departments responded, along with Mississippi Highway Patrol and EMServ. All of those involved in the incident declined medical treatment and transportation to the emergency department.

Traffic was slowed on HWY 590 for almost an hour while emergency responders cleared the site.
