There will be a runoff for Justice Court Judge District 2 in Jones County.

Incumbent Judge Noel Rogers will square off with Sonny Saul on November 24 after neither could garner more than 50 percent of the vote.

After Tuesday evening with all 37 precincts reporting, Saul, the former Mississippi Highway Patrolman, saw himself the leader of the Justice Court Judge District 2 race with 2,615 votes. However, he sat at 35.63 percent on the evening while Rogers sat at 29.04 percent with 2,131 votes.

While there were still 4,000-plus absentee and several Affidavits ballots yet to be counted, it was apparent that the race would head to the runoff later this month.

Marian Allen slipped to third on the night after a strong start that saw her with the lead early, however, by the last call she had garnered 22.13 percent of the vote with 1,624 total.

Jack Armstrong III finished the evening with 12.97 percent of the vote, 952 total votes. There were also 17 write-in votes cast.
