Dollar General on Eastview Drive in the Powers Community and Powers Fire & Rescue have teamed up to conduct a Christmas Toy Drive for underprivileged children.

"We know from past experience with families in our area that there are children who would not otherwise receive toys at Christmas," notes Powers Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Bo Burroughs.

He adds, "We are asking members of the public who are shopping at Dollar General on Eastview Drive to please purchase a toy and drop it in the box by the checkout register. You can help bring a smile to underprivileged children this Christmas by doing so."

Last Christmas, Powers Fire & Rescue was able to provide toys to sixty-one children from twenty-four families as a result of the generosity of others.

"We had parents who broke down in tears when they came to our volunteer fire station to pick up toys for their kids," notes Powers Fire Chief Joey Davis. He concludes, "We know that Christmas morning will be a lot more joyous when these toys find their way into children's hands. We are trying hard to make 2020 memorable for these underprivileged children."

Dollar General is located at 91 Eastview Drive right off Highway 84 East in the Powers Community. Toys may also be dropped off Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at B&C Mobile Homes located at 1513 Highway 84 East, which is serving as a drop-off point.
