Since the Jones County Sheriff’s Department website, www.jonesso.com, went live on March 5, 2020, the department has located and arrested fifty-three (53) individuals listed on the “Most Wanted” section of the website.
“Individuals who are wanted on Bench Warrants issued by the Jones County Circuit Court Judge are listed on our website in the “Most Wanted” section,” notes Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin. He adds, “We also will list individuals suspected of violent crimes that we are urgently seeking. The fifty-three individuals arrested so far from the “Most Wanted” list does not include Indictments and Justice Court warrants. We are actively seeking the individuals on our “Most Wanted” list and appreciate all of the help that we are receiving from the public with tips and leads and the hard work by our staff working to locate these wanted persons.”
Jones County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Mitch Sumrall notes, “We utilize our JCSD website and Facebook page to feature those wanted individuals that we are seeking. The use of these technology tools allows residents to see who we are actively searching for and provide tips and leads on their whereabouts. We also use the considerable talents of our investigators and deputies to help physically locate persons wanted by JCSD.” Sumrall concludes, “The best advice I can offer to those who are wanted is to call us at 601-425-3147 and arrange to
surrender yourself. We are and will be relentless in our pursuit of those wanted on criminal charges. The crime victims we serve deserve no less and the wanted persons we are seeking must face justice for their alleged crimes.
