HATTIESBURG, MISS. – Hattiesburg Clinic’s Connections and Psychology & Counseling departments are holding the 17th Annual Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Related Concerns Conference Oct. 22-23.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will look different this year. Instead of convening in person, the conference will be offered virtually. Attendees will be able to watch sessions in real time or recorded. Recorded sessions will be available for a limited time after the conference concludes.
Those who attend will hear from experts in behavioral and mental health and other related fields. Attendees will also be able to visit virtually with exhibitors and network with each other through the conference online platform and digital app.
This conference will include sessions on various topics, including ADHD and coexisting disorders, dyslexia, behavior management, autism, and more. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and credit hours have been applied for school administrators and educators, counselors, marriage and family therapists, health care providers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, dyslexia therapists, and speech-language pathologists. Parents and caregivers are also encouraged to attend.
The mission of this conference is to educate and inspire the community to better diagnose, treat, and care for those with ADHD and coexisting disorders.
“The purpose of our conference is to equip our community with a better understanding of ADHD and related disorders. There are many misconceptions about the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD specifically,” said Ronald Kent, MD, pediatrician and medical director at Connections. “How we address these disorders as medical providers, educators and family members can have a significant impact. We are thrilled for the opportunity to host our 17th annual conference for the community, even if it looks a little different this year.”
Dr. Kent will be closing this year’s conference with a panel session discussing “Where are We with the Now-Normal?” discussing the effects of COVID-19 on medicine, education, home and work. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from psychologists, educators, medical providers, and others involved in the care of students.
