Dancing Man - Christopher Odom

JCSD Chief Deputy Mitch Sumrall takes Christopher Odom into custody after a foot chase down Interstate 59.

A subject who 911 callers advised was running down Hwy. 11 in his underwear then dancing on the I-59 bridge at Exit 99 in Jones County was arrested by the Jones County Sheriff's Department after a foot chase down the interstate.

Units from the Jones County Sheriff's Department, Laurel Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and a Jasper County Sheriff's Office deputy who was passing through converged at Exit 99 where JCSD Chief Deputy Mitch Sumrall was in a spirited foot chase with the subject identified as Christopher Odom. Southbound traffic on I-59 was briefly blocked during the foot chase.

The subject was non-compliant and combative when caught on foot on the I-59 Exit 99 on-ramp by JCSD Chief Deputy Sumrall and JCSD Sergeant Lance Williams and was tased. He was taken into custody at the scene. The subject stated that he had been taking "Ice" which is Crystal Methamphetamine. The subject was evaluated by EMServ Ambulance Service then booked into the Jones County Adult Detention Facility on charges of Public Drunkenness, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.

Sheriff Joe Berlin notes, "We greatly appreciate the assistance of LPD, MHP, and Jasper County S.O. during this foot chase. If you ever needed a reason not to use illegal drugs, this incident should be a prime example of just how bad they can make you act."
