Collins resides in the town of Collins with her husband, Gary, and they have one son. She serves as the vice president of Communications and Government Relations at Southern Pine Electric Power Association.

She has been a writer since early adulthood and has published two works. Her first, “Making Life Better: The Story of Southern Pine Electric Power Association,” was released in 2018. It chronicles the 80-year history of the life and times of Southern Pine Electric Power Association members and employees and the humble journey of the men and women who brought electricity to rural Mississippians.

Collins has finalized the first book in a series of children’s books, “Willie Finds His Honk.” This fun, action-packed story of an adventurous Canada goose is both amusing and educational.

She generously provided copies of her two books for the members in attendance.

President Lisa Campbell announced that the chapter will be providing welcome gifts to the 35 new employees of the Covington County School District.

The 2020-21 officers were installed by Cindy Alsworth, immediate past president. The officers are President - Lisa Powers Campbell; First Vice President - Janet L McDonald Bullock; Second Vice President - Sonia Nixon; Treasurer - Cheree Klug Bullock; Recording/Corresponding Secretary - Gwen Keys Hitt; Parliamentarian - Mary Elizabeth Edmond, and Immediate Past President - Cindy Davis Alsworth.

The organization’s primary purpose is to support education and educators in our community, state, and nation. The hostesses for the meeting were Cindy Alsworth and Lisa Campbell.

The Oct. 13 meeting will be held at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Collins at 4:30 p.m.
