Monday morning at approximately 8:48 a.m., an oil storage tank caught fire and erupted causing injuries to at least one individual on Pruitt Road just off of Burnt Bridge Road in Ellisville.
Multiple fire departments that included Calhoun, Glade, Powers, Southwest Jones, Shady Grove, Moselle, Ellisville, Laurel, and Ovett were called out to tend to the explosion which in turn erupted multiple storage containers filled with oil. Emergency crews also used foam to help extinguish the fire after several hundred gallons of water were used.
At the time, no other injuries were reported per Paul Sheffield, Executive Director of Jones County Emergency Operations.
Reportedly when the explosion took place injuring the victim who was not named, the victim called emergency responders to let them know the storage unit erupted while they were en route to medical facilities.
The location is reportedly owned and operated by Ensight Energy.
