A Lamar County traffic stop Thursday accelerated to a short vehicle pursuit, a foot race, and an apartment search to produce about $80,000 in methamphetamine and one arrest.
Sheriff Danny Rigel said the incident began when deputies tried to start a traffic stop on Hacienda Avenue, but the suspect drove away until he stopped on Delaune Circle one block east. Deputies were able to apprehend the suspect.
Alfredic James, 36 of Columbia was searched and a bout 445 grams of meth were found.
“Deputies executed a search at an apartment on Hacienda Avenue,” Rigel said. “They recovered approximately 15 pounds more of meth. The estimated street value of the recovered meth is approximately $80,000.”
James was charged with trafficking meth, felony eluding a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Lamar County Jail.
