At the same time several volunteer fire departments were battling a mobile home fire on Dry Swamp Road Tuesday evening, Pleasant Ridge, Calhoun and Soso volunteer departments, along with personnel and apparatus from Laurel Fire Department, responded to a structure fire at 181 Palmer Road.
At 7:14 pm, 911 was activated by the next door neighbor for a fire in the abandoned house.
Upon arrival of the first responding fire apparatus, firefighters found the front room of the structure engulfed in flames. While the front room was found to have major damage along with damage to the exterior wall, the rest of the structure remains intact thanks to the quick work of fire personnel on scene.
No injuries were reported.
