Sharon and Shady Grove volunteer fire departments responded to the report of a structure fire just after midnight at 4381 Sharon Road.
Upon arrival, the first responding fire apparatus found fire in the bedroom area of the home and began an offensive attack. Outside of the bedrooms, much of the home only had smoke damage but no structural damage, thanks to the quick work of the firefighters on scene.
The brick home was the church parsonage of First Baptist of Sharon.
Pastor Matt Olson said he and his family were headed out of town to see family when he realized he forgot something. They returned home to retrieve his glasses and when they opened the door to the home, smoke billowed out along with the family's cat, which ran out of the house.
Mr. Olson lives at the home with his wife and two daughters.
The home sustained major damage in the bedroom areas, however, no injuries were reported.
