An early, Sunday morning fire claims a home on Lower-Myrick Road according to reports.

Glade, M&M, and Powers Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the report of a structure fire at 764 Lower Myrick Road, in Laurel at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Upon arrival at the scene, the first responding firefighters found a wood frame single-family residence fully engulfed in flames with a collapsed roof. The home’s roof had already collapsed prior to the first responder’s arrival at the scene.

The fire departments began a defensive attack, eventually putting out the flames from the structure fire.

According to reports from Jones County Fire Council’s Dana Bumgardner, It is unknown if the home was occupied at the time of the incident.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department and EMServ ambulance service also responded. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.
