A 41-year-old Perkinston man is being sought by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department on first-degree murder warrants in the double slaying of two people Saturday morning.

Anthony Shane Simmons should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel.

“We received a 911 call at 1:24 a.m. Saturday about a shooting in the 1600 block of Purvis to Baxterville Road,” he said. “Deputies arrived on scene and they found a 37-year-old deceased white female and a 41-year-old deceased white male. They both suffered from shotgun wounds.”

Rigel described Simmons as 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds.

The suspect was last seen driving a 2014 white F-150 Ford pickup, with Stone County tag ST1 2434, Rigel said.

“It wasn't a stranger-on-stranger murder,” Rigel said. “They knew each other. He is believed he is still in possession of the shotgun.”

Rigel said anyone aware of Simmons’ whereabouts can contact the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department or local law enforcement.
