An absconded sex offender has been captured.
According to the Jones County Sheriff's Department, absconded sex offender Devante Blanks was captured by officers with the Laurel Police Department Tuesday evening.
Blanks was arrested by the Laurel Police Department on multiple charges that include: Possession of Marijuana -first offense, Possession of Paraphernalia, Extortion - Felony over $250, and Receiving Stolen Property - Felony of more than $250.
Blanks faces a Jones County Sheriff's Department felony charge of Failure To Register As A Sex Offender along with the other charges by the LPD.
Blanks is incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending an initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court according to the press release,
