The Laurel Police Department arrested and charged a man after he allegedly robbed a convenience store at gunpoint Saturday evening.
In a press release from Laurel Police Chief Tommy Cox, police officers were dispatched to the Alliance Gas Station on Highway 15 North at 11:00 p.m. when Jaquarus White, 20, reportedly entered the convenience store and brandished a handgun at the cashier.
White allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money from the store, then fled the scene.
White was arrested a short time later in the area of University Avenue by officers from Lt. Mark Evans' shift, according to Cox.
Laurel Police Department officers were assisted by the Jones County Sherriff's Department.
White was charged with one count of Armed Robbery and will have his initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court Monday.
