Per the National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi, the Pine Belt is expected to receive severe weather to close out 2020.
Severe thunderstorms, capable of producing damaging wind gusts and tornadoes, are expected to move into the southwest portions of the area Thursday evening (New Year's Eve) and continue to spread northeast across the area overnight. Severe storms also can not be ruled out during the late afternoon hours for locations in the west and central MS.
