SANDERSVILLE – Jones County officials said the location of a new retail travel stop will be a boost to the town of Sandersville and Jones County.
Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores have been constructing one of its new locations in the Sandersville Area.
Jones County Economic Development Authority Chairman George Bassi called the construction of the new travel stop good for the area.
“Most people think about economic development as industrial,” he said. “However, the opening of a new retail spot like this is also great for the economy.”
Bassi said it’s a plus for many.
“It’s a huge economic boost for Sandersville. As for economic development, it will bring jobs into Sandersville and improve the tax base,” he added. “It’s great for Jones County when anything like this coming to our area. We are happy they chose a post in Jones County to locate.”
Ross Tucker, president and Chief Executive Officer of the Jones County Economic Development Authority, said the work being done now at a site in Sandersville has been four years in the making. Tucker said Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores began looking at locations in Jones County four years ago. He said about a year ago, they settled on the site in Sandersville just off of Interstate 59’s Exit 104.
For the past several month's construction work at the site has been progressing well.
“It’s going to have a restaurant in it and all,” Tucker said. “It’s a boost for the Sandersville area and Jones County.”
Tucker said the company’s new site is being estimated as a $10 million dollar investment.
“We are looking forward to it opening in the area,” he added.
