A death investigation into the Dec. 16 fatality from a Dec. 15 accident at Mar-Jac Poultry has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for grand jury consideration
Joel Velasco Toto, 33, was injured at the 1301 James St. poultry industry Dec. 15 morning and was transported to a hospital. Hattiesburg Police were notified of the incident, according to HPD Public Information Officer Ryan Moore.
The death investigation started Dec. 16 night after Toto died from his injuries. In the investigation, the incident involved known acquaintances who were horse-playing with machinery in the facility when Toto was injured.
