November 19, 1960

Jackson Murrah’s Mike Dennis edged Laurel’s James Nicholas, 90-84, for the Big 8 Conference football scoring title. Sue Perkins scored 19 points and Carolyn Grafton added 17 points as Calhoun edged Collins, 44-43.

November 20, 2010

West Jones blanked Vancleave, 25-0, as Devontay Barnett rushed for 109 yards and scored on a 3-yard run. Ben Stevens hit Xavier Hilton on an 18-yard TD pass, and Hunter Estes converted on a couple of 25-yard field goals for the Mustangs (12-0).

November 21, 1970

Hattiesburg downed Laurel, 10-7, in the Little Brown Jug contest. Tom Fortner's 45-yard run was LHS's only TD in the 49th meeting of the two teams.

November 22, 1970

Petal ran over West Jones, 38-15, to claim the Southern Athletic Conference football title to avenge a regular season loss to the Mustangs (9-1). Ronnie Ducksworth and Mitch Reynolds scored for the Mustangs. Biloxi downed Laurel, 17-7, in the 41st Shrimp Bowl. Frank Wright scored the only touchdown for the Tornadoes (7-4). Wright, Joel McKinley, Milton Gavin and Jeff Moss were all recognized for stellar play for Laurel.

November 23, 1970

Jones downed Northeast, 25-14, as David Cooley passed for two scores and ran for another. Cooley passed for 245 yards and ran for another 87 yards. Cooley hit Mike Lawson and Emmitt Lewis on TD passes. Billy Carey also scored on an 80-yard TD run as the Bobcats finished the season at 6-2-2.

November 24, 1950

Laurel ran all over Hattiesburg, 50-8, on Thanksgiving Day. Aubrey Wade scored four touchdowns while Bobby Collins passed for two scores as he hit Robert Seely and Wade on aerial TD passes. Collins also ran for another score. D. L. Hancock scored on a 3-yard run while Fred Smallwood had an interception return for six points.
