The Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Laurel Police Department is lending a helping hand so children can have a Merry Christmas.
The Laurel Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police is holding its annual “Shop With A Cop” event this Saturday at the Laurel Police Department Training Center and Pistol Range.
According to a press release sent by the JCSD, typically the children accompanied law enforcement officers to Walmart to shop together for their Christmas presents, however, due to COVID-19, police officers and deputies did the shopping at Walmart Wednesday afternoon and have had the presents wrapped in gift bags for the children to open.
The Laurel Lodge FOP “Shop With A Cop” event is the longest-running event in the United States per the release.
The Laurel police Department and Jones County Sheriff’s Department strives to help those less fortunate children in our community have a Merry Christmas! The JSCD also gives thanks to Wal-Mart for being a great community member by hosting the event!
