It’s that time of year again when youth across the county and the state are taking part and are preparing for livestock shows and similar activities.
Saturday, 4-H’ers from Jasper County put their livestock projects to the test in the show arena during the 2019 Jasper County Junior Livestock Show held at the J.R. Sims Livestock Facility in Bay Springs.
According to Jasper County Extension Agent Kelby King, the activities during the much anticipated event were very successful and fun for all who participated.
“The 2019 Jasper County Jr. Livestock Show was another successful year,” he explained.
The show ring road doesn’t stop there. Local youth who participate during the show season circuit will be hitting the road this week, and will be extremely busy with prep work for the show circuit season finale beginning in February at the Dixie National Junior Livestock Show in Jackson. This week, Jasper County youth will be heading to the Southeast District Livestock Show in Hattiesburg. Many who show market stock will return to Jasper County one more time for the Jasper County Junior Livestock Sale which will be held next Monday in Bay Springs. And, most will head to Jackson for the Dixie National Junior Livestock Show which will be held at the beginning of February.
