Per a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department, an adult male inmate housed at the Jones County Sheriff's Department Adult Detention Facility in Ellisville was found deceased in his cell by JCSD Corrections Officers today at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
The Jones County Sheriff's Department inmate who was found deceased in his cell on Saturday at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility is Andrew Jones, age 34, according to JCSD officials.
Saturday, Sgt. J.D. Carter said that the department was in the process of notifying family members, therefore, the name is not being released to the public at this time.
Mr. Jones had been incarcerated since December 9, 2020 on charges of Burglary - Breaking and Entering and Possession Of Beer In A Dry County. He was being held on a $15,000 bond.
The investigation into the inmate death is being conducted by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation according to Sgt. Carter.
"It appeared as there was no foul play involved," stated Sgt. Carter. "An autopsy will be done and everything is being turned over to the MBI as of now."
Sgt. Carter stated that further information will be provided by the MBI and JCSD as soon as possible pending investigative results.
