A homeowner received unwanted guests as two suspects decided to have an impromptu sleepover in a resident's home on Lake Como Road.
"Jones County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a residence on Lake Como Road on Monday after the mother of the homeowner discovered two individuals in the home who had broken in the night before and spent the night," said the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
Stephen Beasley, 26, and Toni Smith, 28, were both arrested and charged with Burglary - Breaking And Entering Dwelling and Grand Larceny- More Than $1,000.
"The pair reportedly had been walking on Sunday night and saw the porch light on at the home, broke in and made themselves at home raiding the refrigerator and setting up furniture in a bedroom," said the department.
"Several items inside the home had been removed and placed in a vehicle outside leading to the Grand Larceny charge," continued the department.
Beasley reported an address in Collins, Mississippi and Smith reported an address in Hartselle, Alabama during the arrest and booking process.
"After the mother of the homeowner discovered the subjects in the home, she called her son who arrived and detained the pair until deputies arrived," stated the department.
Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin noted in a release, "You would like to think that working in law enforcement that nothing surprises you anymore. Then along comes an incident like this."
At the time of the release, Beasley and Smith were incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending their initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.
