Calhoun, Hebron, Pleasant Ridge, and Soso Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the report of a structure fire about 2:45 pm Sunday afternoon at 78 Daisy Drive.
Per a release from Jones County Fire Council's Dana Bumgardner, homeowners and residents Jerry and Maria Coleman were enjoying a restful Sunday afternoon watching TV when they suddenly smelled smoke.
The pair found an electrical outlet in their dining room with smoke surrounding it. Upon further investigation, flames were found on the other side of the wall coming from the attic space.
The ceiling of the home had already been compromised. The Colemans quickly escaped the residence and called 911.
When the first responding fire apparatus arrived, firefighters found more than half the single story brick home engulfed in flames. The home sustained major damage in the blaze.
No injuries were reported. The Colemans also lost their two vehicles during the incident.
