Downtown Thursdays sponsored by Sunbelt Federal Credit Union kicked off with a strong start as fireworks, food, and fun Thursday evening as the event was enjoyed by many.
Each Thursday, starting on June 17 until July 15, vendors gather to sell fresh produce and a host of other goods at the farmer’s market starting at 5 p.m., with a movie to be played at 8 p.m.
Brad Smith with Agape Church discussed what all the farmer’s market and “Downtown Thursday” entails.
“We are super excited to have Downtown Thursday back this year with a full season,” said Smith. “Last year we only had it once due to COVID, but this year we are back with a full season starting tonight [Thursday]. We are going to run until July 15 and we will have new entertainment and a new movie each week.”
Latisha Hamilton and Friends kicked off the event with a live concert as the farmer’s market took place and people shopped while listening to music.
“It is really good to be back and to see everyone together enjoying the event,” said Smith.
“We are excited to be able to host the event for the city, the county, and all the people around. It’s also big for visitors,” stated Smith. “There are a lot of people from out of town passing through the area, so to be able to provide a great experience for them is awesome. This is a big community outreach for us.”
With well over a dozen vendors and more expected, Smith said make plans to come out and enjoy the event each week.
