An apparent domestic dispute ended with one dead in the Erata Community per the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute at approximately 11:15 when the shooting occurred at 2962 Highway 11 North. Michael Shoemaker was pronounced dead at the scene in front of the mobile home where the dispute happened.
According to Seargent J.D. Carter, paramedics were called and arrived on the scene, however, they could not revive Michael Shoemaker.
“Basically what happened was that there was an argument between the [Shoemaker] and his girlfriend [Sally Alexander] that turned violent. A juvenile shot Shoemaker one time. The juvenile was the son of Shoemaker’s girlfriend.”
Sgt. Carter also said that the name of the shooter would not be released due to being a juvenile.
Sgt. Carter said that the incident was still under investigation and that no arrests were made at the time of the incident or at the writing of this report.
“Everything is still pending,” said Sgt. Carter. The case will be presented to a grand jury per reports.
Jones County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Reuben Bishop is the lead investigator in the case. Investigators said that once more information is available they would update.
