A suspect in a December shooting has come forward according to a press release sent by Laurel Police Chief Tommy Cox.
On December 20, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m., officers from the department were dispatched to two locations about shootings. The locations were the 1100 block of North 1st Ave. and the 2600 block of North 7th Ave.
No injuries were reported at either scene.
After an investigation by the Laurel Police Department, it was revealed that the same suspect was involved in both December incidents.
Larry A. Evans III, 20, turned himself in at the Laurel Police Department on Thursday after learning that he was wanted in connection to these incidents.
Evans stands charged with one count of Attempted Aggravated Assault and one count of Drive-by Shooting.
LPD Investigators also ran two search warrants about this case and one firearm was seized. The firearm will be sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for comparison.
Evans will have his initial appearance in Laurel Municipal Court Friday. Inv. Crabtree is assigned to the case.
