October 14, 1961

Top-ranked Laurel blanked Brookhaven, 35-0, as quarterback Scott Coffield threw two TD passes and ran for two more. Coffield hit Ronnie Robinson on passes of 5 and 48 yards. John Wright also ran 8 yards for a score. Ray Perkins scored on runs of 8, 35 and 10 yards and kicked five conversions in leading Petal over Waynesboro-Central, 35-6. Bob Doby scored the only Panther points on a 15-yard run.

October 14, 2006

West Jones defeated South Jones, 26-3, as Chase Headrick tossed two touchdown passes to Tyler Gardner and Marcus Pierce. Kraig Simpson also passed to Gardner for another score.

October 15, 1971

Daniel Darby scored on runs of 3, 60 and 62 yards in leading JCJC over Northwest, 31-15. Darby rushed for 175 yards on 22 carries.

October 16, 1961

Dwight Smith’s 11-yard TD run led Jones over Perkinston, 6-0, in the 4th Annual Lions Bowl.

October 16, 1971

Benny Hinton rushed for 244 yards and two scores as undefeated Laurel (6-0) downed Brookhaven, 35-15. Jimmy Darby scored on a 27-yard run while Mac Harrison hit Dan Cotton and Butch Chadwell on TD passes. John Jordan’s two scores and Ben Staples’ 25-yard field goal led NE Jones over FCAHS, 18-11. South Pike doubled up West Jones, 44-22, as Archie Harper scored two touchdowns. Mark Ray also scored on a 5-yard run for the Mustangs.

October 17, 1981

Ronnie Ducksworth rushed for 259 yards and scored three times in leading West Jones over Northeast Jones, 25-2. John Clark ran 73 yards for another Mustang score. Chris Hudson’s 73-yard kickoff return led Laurel over Natchez, 14-7.

October 19, 1981

Simmy Cooley hit Chip Geiger on a 50-yard pass with 1:53 left in the game to give JCJC a 28-23 win over Gulf Coast. Cooley also passed 64 yards to Smokey Jordan while Charles Clayton ran 1 and 6 yards for touchdowns.

October 19, 1996

Alrekus Graves scored on runs of 15, 11 and 2 yards as West Jones rolled over West Lauderdale, 41-14. Vincent Brown and Cadaro Jennings also scored on runs while Josh Sullivan scored on a pass from Darren Welch. Northeast Jones drilled Laurel, 49-12, as Lee Gavin scored on runs of 5, 1 and 73 yards while Nick Cochran scored on runs of 17 and 63 yards. Rocky Ford passed 21 yards to Dennis Walker, and Nick McCoy ran 13 yards for six points. Ryan Milner kicked all seven conversions. Tim Weathersby and Sal Williams tallied for Laurel. Wayne Brown’s 21-yard field goal led South Jones over PRC, 10-7. Brian Harless scored the Braves’ only TD on a 1-yard run.

October 20, 2001

Spencer Richardson scored the only TD as Northeast Jones blanked Quitman, 7-0. Brett Jones scored three times in leading Laurel over West Jones, 31-6. Danny Jones returned a Laurel kickoff 95 yards for the only Mustang score. Jeff Boone and Seth Thompson both scored twice in leading South Jones over Poplarvile, 32-10. Thompson also passed 74 yards to Jay Heidelberg for another Braves score.
